Knicks All-star Landing Pages
The Problem: The New York Knicks need a centralized location to explain to fans how they can vote for their favorite Knicks player to send to the All-Star game. The Knicks also wanted to get fans excited about the players and the All-Star game. My question is: how can we build an All-Star experience that is both informative and exciting?
Skills: UI design, wireframing, Interaction Design, Design Systems
Software: Figma, Ceros, Photoshop
Role: Product Designer
The Process:
First, I worked with the Knicks marketing team to define what content they would want on the page. They said they wanted to have information on how to vote, since the process had changed since the previous season. They also wanted an easy way for fans to select the players they wanted to vote for, and gain data on favorite players.
Then, the creative team put together a brand campaign, and sent me some .psds, logos, and textures to use on the site. I would pick apart .psd files to isolate specific textures, graphic elements and player imagery so that I could use these elements more freely in my layouts.
I then started sketching some wireframes in a notebook before moving into Figma. I mocked up my design in Figma and got some feedback from my manager.
I then moved the designs into Ceros. Ceros is a no-code platform we use at MSG to create interactive landing pages on our sports properties. Once I designed the experience in Ceros, I added some interactions, like hover states, and some animated elements to make the page feel more lively.
I then presented the page to the Knicks marketing team and the VP of Marketing Strategy. Overall, the team liked the page, but asked that I remove the entire roster, and pare it down to just the starting five players.
After that, the designs were approved and we published the site. It drove a lot of traffic, leading to more votes for our players. One of our players made it into the competition, so the site was flipped to celebrate that, and inform our fans when and where they could watch Jalen Brunson play in the All-Star competition.
The following 2 seasons, we reused the same structure/layout of this initial page but injected new branding and interactions into it. This past season (25-26), I worked closely with the sports creative director to create some fun gifs.
