Website Redesign for an Orthodontist Client at Presentation Multimedia.

The Problem:

Presentation Multimedia’s client, Pacific Northwest Orthodontics wanted a new clean look to their outdated website. Their color scheme was mostly grey, and there wasn’t much visual personality. I was given free reign, so my question was how might I modernize this outdated site in a way that gave this business’s digital presence a more striking personality?

Skills:

Wireframing, Visual Design

Software:

Illustrator, Photoshop

Wireframing

Below are some wireframes I drew on paper for the homepage layout. The sketches are pretty rough, because they were only for me, but they included all the information I needed to create the homepage.

Visual Design

For the visual design, I had originally wanted to go with a really striking deep blue and dark green theme. I was inspired by the beautiful nature of the pacific northwest, which is where the practice is located. I had also recently watched Midsommar and I was really inspired by the aesthetics of the film - specifically the dresses worn by the festival-goers and all the Nordic paintings and architecture (I was not inspired by the horror in the film).

After analyzing their logo a bit more, I had pulled out a dark green color, and decided to run with that. The final design was super inspired by Chobani’s branding, which I think has a super pacific northwest graphic design style - very earthy, fun and nature-inspired.

Final Prototype

Below is the final version of the homepage mockup I created. It was then handed off to the account manager, Todd Witkin, who added final touches. The final site can be viewed here.

What I Learned

In this project, I learned a lot about the importance of finding design inspiration for a work project. Often because of my work timeline, I don’t have time to create moodboards or look at other sites to find inspiration. However, this project I had time, and I think that it really benefited the overall look and feel of the project.
